Lily's Family

In the village of La Huerta, about 25 minutes outside of San Miguel, Lily supports her 4 children by weaving baskets out of carrizo.

In the past they all were living in a small shack made of carrizo and a donated piece of plastic which served as the roof. Now, thanks to Casita Linda AC, they have a 240 sq. ft. home with a good roof, a solar hot water shower, electric lights, four windows, mattresses (graciously donated by St. Paul's Church) and a new-found sense of security and dignity.

"I remember watching her youngest son trying to read a textbook which

had wrinkled completely from exposure to the wet dirt floor of their little shack. What hope did he have before, and what promise will his new circumstances fulfill?" asked Irma Rosado of Casita Linda AC. "When we inaugurated Lily's house it was a teary event. The family was so happy."
